AI “Explosion”

Writing this week about what seems to be a recent vast explosion of AI image creation themed posts, writings, thoughts and statements. I think we all understand and accept academia’s obsession with trends/newness and try to accommodate it where l/we can, but this recent proliferation has me questioning the validity of it all and the viewpoints of various mindsets.

I am contemplating including ai image creation, incorporating it into my ordinary/banal/stock imagery research but I think that it may take a little time to pan out what the usage obsession with it is?

Are we including this development in all areas? Education possibly? Effects on Visual literacy? Furthermore is ‘AI Image generating’ that big a game changer in terms of producing imagery?

Quite possibly but what should I do with it? Is the risk of incorporating every new trend too much or is this the one moment that changes everything?
