ImageDiscussion Struth (re)(create)(ion)
As part of my practice, I‘ve been examining the structures of the photographic taking as a starting point from HCB, with his statement, I’m looking at:
‘purposely disrupting the process of photography’
Through examining this, I have made various attempts at recreating famous images, the first one of HCB’s own images made in Paris, the outcome was ok given the certain constraints but will need further research. The second attempt is Thomas Struth’s image of the ‘Pantheon’. My image was taken on a digital camera quickly, then these speedily taken overlapping images thrown thorough the quickest of photoshop process as opposed to the time and contemplation taken with a 10x8 camera, then the final output of piece again mirroring Struth’s production but in cm’s not meters…
Through these naïve attempts at disrupting the recreation process, it is hoped for further conversation’s in how we regard photographies.
