MA-fmp
It starts here
The final stage of my MA starts about here in the latter stages of 2019, I have been thinking about what I’d like to do for a few months while, starting the thought process on the way to realising it. I came up with so many ideas that it swamped me a little so I stepped around that by a thought of what do I want to call this part of the MA and what I do I want to call my “new” practice. Starting the MA meant a step away form what I used to do as practice and towards this new direction, which feeds into my teaching and education
The ideas then formulated to a stage where it feels like it has a very distinct name that sums part of it up and if you are reading this on my blog then it’ll come as no surprise (as it’s the name of the site) to see that name as Urgent Temporality, it’s very much a nice feeling for it to have a name, lets see how it works toward it’s fulfilment of that title.
Not quite there yet on other specifics, they aren’t quite as established yet so I’m giving them further room to develop, see how they develop, space to breathe..
The process in getting to this naming stage had a lot of different navigational points and I tried a number of approaches, notably these included: Starting backwards from an idea of what my finished piece would be, looking for time specific cultural points to pin work on, to randomising the idea sequence and seeing what transpires.
Some of these worked, some did not, some I realised, if their underpinning became apparent, would be shot down in an instance and rightly so.
So here I am with a name and a glimpse of what I would like it to be, so what’s the next step? To give it some currency, some content and see where this journey leads.
On writing this I realised that a public facing blog format is a complex one, with it’s open sharing of thought processes and ideas, it may be that sometimes they need privacy to develop, it’s not always great to share these to a far and wide audience so I imagine I’ll temper them as such, well will see how this works.
Anyway here’s to journeys and advancement.
