Paper (proposed) - Ordingraphy

Paper (Proposed) title:

What is Ordinary in photographies?

In praise/search/consideration of ‘ordingraphy’.

Current photographic practices suggest of the absolute need in the creation of  extraordinary pictures but then where does ‘ordinary’ photography sit within this structure? This (proposed) paper will examine what value the ‘ordinary’ has, particularly in contemporary society’s visually saturated world. Where does the ordinary exist?

Using the definition of the word as a starting point:

‘Ordinary’

‘Something with no special or distinctive features: normal:

What is commonplace or standard.’

What effect does this definition have on photographies?

In actual fact can anything be classed as ordinary?

Current desires would suggest that even the use of the word is forbidden but surely if everything is ‘extraordinary’ then does not everything, in fact, become ordinary? What does this mean for photographies image of itself in the world? Building on both established texts and current critical thinking, I shall attempt a thorough examination of this genre including its history, applications and futures.

Ordinary photographic Image.
