Pictures

After last week’s piece solely on words, thought I would do something on pictures this week. I’m currently trying to pinpoint an image that says the most about what UT is all about, and as if a single image could do this, it has proved difficult so I looked to my recently made images, in particular I’m working on a set of images called “I can’t seem to make nice pictures.” Based in tourist spots and places of beauty, I examine image making and aesthetic ideas, which is typically UT.  I had come up with a name for the image but on reflection, feel it didn’t fit and was a bit pretentious so I’ll talk about why I made this image, it is as a reminder of shadows cast, outlooks and alternate ways of looking at things and a reminder that even in hallowed halls things can sometime go awry.

A traditional institution’s pointed roof cast a shadow over a pavement whose white demarcation markings seem to have gone skewiff. A patch of grass looks on from the right.
