Skipped…

Hello again, here we are with another rumination, but firstly, let me give my apologies for skipping last weeks post, the Wednesday writing sessions are prone to interruption and disarray is rife in the middle of the week, last week was a prime example of this. This blip has given rise to the need for further identification of what these posts are and should be, which leads to thoughts about what directions it should take.

Originally, I had hoped to use this space to write essays, research ideas and exploration of thought processes but I’m finding that this is quite a distraction away from the main practice of the PhD studies as it does take up a lot of work in editing, timing and head space...I wanted this writing to give my practice an academic edge, getting into the habit of writing in this style as my usual one is a lot looser, more conversational and freer from restrictions although I know this doesn’t sit so well in academic settings...

Now we are nearly through January and the question I’m faced with is how to proceed? Should I turn into a notepad blog with random thoughts, ideas and image exploration or stick with the original concept…or chart a pathway somewhere down the middle where I possibly write a more informed piece coupled with a chattier piece so that would result in two a month??

I think that the latter will possibly work best and suit the format of this site, so I’ll see how that goes for the month of February the reflect. That will give me chance to concentrate on proposal rewrites, readings and further work on the PhD, which will be good.

You’re never quite sure how things will be seen till you get feedback so any thoughts, comments or discussions you can get me via the usual channels.

Thank you for reading about this journey.

As always, a blog needs a picture and thought I’d share this one, it’s part of the reason for the delays and distractions and may form part of a longer-term project. It’s an emotive looking image, it’s one of the aftermaths of my Mums latest trip to the hospital. Hoping it links around text and imagery debates that are happening constantly as well as ideas of what makes up the constituent parts of imagery. By adding the backstory to the image does it make it any more potent?

Thanks for your time.
