BANAL

All photography is Banal?

Time and time again I’m making the same note when reading and researching, spreading between the 5 words of the question “Is all photography banal? Sometimes it spreads into bold text that makes the statement:

All Photography is Banal.

I’m arriving at this viewpoint at many points, when listening to certain photographers discuss images that they have made, hearing the supporting established gatekeepers allowing this discourse without any critical analysis to reading texts surrounding work that I can almost surely say was not made that way to seeing artists work that is allowed to veer far from a critical discourse.

I am seeing this from art houses to Instagram chats so believe that it is pretty widespread.

And no I’m no different in producing earth shattering works. In fact some might say/have said that my work is all encompassing the banal in both style and subject.
