In Passing or Specifically speaking?
Of late I’ve noticed a couple of crossover points between my practices, this week’s is looking at the value conundrum between making something incidentally or specifically.
In this case I’m talking about how I make images and what value they have.
Little background here, life for me has changed for me hugely in the last years particularly with the UT research practice making up much of my life now, leading to evaluation and reflection on image making practices
For the purpose of this blog I will ask the gateway question of:
“Does an image have greater value if it is made intentionally or observed incidentally?”
Not sure I have the wordcount to fully explore this but drilling down to a base level for a starter question is:
Which images have better value?
Images made while taking the camera on errands/journeys or the ones made by specific planned image making excursions?
A combination of a sign that says nothing and a space that isn’t a space or is it?
