NMP 20 -What do I want to say?

It looks like big changes are on the way so this may force me to make some changes to the way I shoot “ Middling Sin” I’m not sure what these effects will be like, if we are working from home then this will need an adaptation and won’t give me access to people and the location that I may want to use so not sure how I could possibly shoot it as I intended.

Necessity is the mother of invention

I was already thinking about shooting this as a monologue so will have to explore that idea for now, think I’ll have to have a listen round for voices that could give me the angel that I want…

Have to decide what it is I want to say (nail the story part 2) Main parts of what I’m trying to say is:

·      A want to show the ridiculousness nature of sin.

·      What even is sin?

As well as trying to say that with the piece, I’m also looking to say here I am as an artist and here is my folio centrepiece. I want to make a piece that I can use to showcase my work.

The other two pieces are shaping up together so I’m developing a section of my folio in that respect, if you include the Gifs that I’ve been working as well for socials then I may have something of a moving image folio

I’m not sure where the work fits in the wider context, i look at my work and trying to categorise it amongst other pieces is a difficult one, if I’m honest I sometimes struggle with video pieces to see what their purpose is or how they are developing, I recently saw Martha Rosler: “Semiotics of the Kitchen” in Stockholm, this I see as a piece of art work, political, gendered, statement. Marina Abramović work was also on show, is the video the piece or of the performance that is being videoed the main piece?

Is my piece the art or is it the statement that’s the art?

What is video art and what am i doing?

I’m making a moving image piece for my module, portfolio and for consumption.

It’s on the ridiculous nature of sin and what it is today, Sin is symbolised by a character whose struggling with the very essence of who he is.
