All these ideas are starting to float around…

I needed to condense them a little and get them into something coherent.

Ok so I got both proposals in.

The proposals were submitted and I went with two linked ideas,

for the written side of I went with the idea I had about work being real, i.e taking a straight forward ordinary photograph and asking the question has the shock of realism in photography gone now? Then underlining it with the sub text of does a ”normal” or “ordinary” photograph hold any value? Then concluding with the question: can we photograph nothing anymore?”

for the image making side of the work I went with attempt to explore just how fragile certain social constructs of image, masculinity and taste are. The last bastion of comment is on what people wear, like anytime I wear a colour you’re bound to draw comments from people, some of those shouldn’t really be commenting either !!

So I thought that I’d linked these two quite well, the wearing of colour and the ideas of ordinary photography, both seem to draw comment, both can be seen as easily done but are not often done well.

The feedback from the submissions was that it was two separate ideas and perhaps I should work on the same idea, too large an area to cover and I needed to better articulate what i want to do

I didn’t think of it in this way…its got similar to the Urgent Temporality idea it’s such a large expanse of an area that I need to put it into an abstract and to clarify what all the ideas are rather than leave any thought or idea unturned, it’s ambiguity is not desirable in this structure.

Another aspect of the written submission is that I hadn’t made use of the journals held, I need to include contemporary thought and ideas to see what direction my ideas can take shape.

so I’m off to find some..

On reflection and not to make excuses but for me (and in this current situation) I think the gap between the hand-ins of other modules and the submission of this module had enabled this choice, I needed to leave further headspace, to think about what I needed to do..
